Library and Media Resources

Martin Elementary’s library is a hub for learning, exploration, and fun! Students can access a wide variety of books, digital resources, and media to support classroom learning and foster a love of reading.

Accelerated Reader (AR)

The Accelerated Reader program is a computerized program that quizzes reading accountably. Students select books to read and take an independent quiz on the computer to earn points. Each book is worth a certain number of points based on its length and reading level.  The program tracks student progress over the course of the school year.

Reading Incentives

Each year we stive to motivate students to read by earning small and fun rewards for their reading accomplishments. Sometimes it is a chain with beads earned for every point, some years it is an earned charm, or being able to ‘shop” at the AR store. Classes earn rewards for being the top collective readers and there are individual rewards for our top reading students.

Million Word Challenge

We would like to personally challenge every student to read one million words this year!!! The Accelerated Reader program will track the number of words we have read.  Students who read one million words or more and have an 85% average will get a custom T-shirt, be recognized on awards day, and get to go on a fun field trip!
