Creating Our Class Constitution!
In ELA, Mrs. Paige’s students are learning about the Constitution and its creation. To kick start the unit the kiddos worked together on Monday to come up with rules that make their classroom safe, FUN, and all about teamwork. The most realistic will be approved as a day in her class. Love watching their ideas come to life!

35 of our top spellers in 5th grade competed in our annual MES Spelling Bee! All students did a wonderful job, but Owen Satterfield earned the Spelling Bee Champion title after battling eight rounds! Toby Smith was our runner up! Both boys will compete in the district level spelling bee next month. Help us congratulate Owen and Toby and wish them luck in their next competition!!

The students may have been a bit baffled today!! We decided to have an incognito day and see if they could guess our theme! Their looks, comments, and reactions were priceless!!

There’s no place like the fourth grade! 🌈 As part of our Benchmark Advance curriculum, students explored excerpts from both the novel and drama version. Students completed a variety of math problems and a writing activity all relating to The Wizard of Oz. Huge thanks to the Charger Foundation for making this magical learning experience possible through their generous grant!

Mrs. Allie’s class has officially adopted a calf through the Discovery Dairy Adopt a Cow Program — meet their new calf, Ivy! Over the next few months, students get to follow Ivy’s journey on the farm, learn how she grows, and discover all kinds of fun facts about dairy farming. This program helps students connect what they learn in the classroom to real-life agriculture — and we can’t wait to see Ivy’s updates!

Students have been learning key concepts, like sequencing and creating loops and functions, during their computer programming unit in the STEM Lab. In their first challenge, they had to create a program (or code) to get their partner through a grid without any mistakes. Students had to use critical thinking skills to "debug" their program if they had mistakes. They are doing a fantastic job so far! In the coming weeks, each grade level will get the opportunity to program various robots to wrap up this study.

ELA got hands-on today in Mrs. Allie’s class! Students traded in their pencils for scalpels and became surgeons. They performed “text feature surgery” to save Sammy the Skeleton. They diagnosed problems, used headings, captions, diagrams, and more to bring Sammy back to life! They think Sammy will make a full recovery!

We loved getting to see all the students’ inventions! They have some really cool ideas!!

Way to go, Mrs. Paige!!! MES is so lucky to have you!!!!

We were so excited to have athletes from multiple UTM teams come visit with us during arrival this morning!! We love our SKYHAWKS!!

For being the top readers at MES in the month of August, Mrs. Stacey Rubenacker’s class was treated to sonic slushes. Congratulations! Keep up the good work!

We want to thank the Soybean Committee for making sure our kiddos still got to enjoy some “carnival fun” today! This was a busy morning but turned out great!!

Mrs. Carrie’s math classes added and subtracted decimals with place value blocks this week! Hands on learning is the best kind of learning!

Today in Mrs. Paige’s Social Studies, students learned about Henry Ford and how he made the Model T affordable for everyday people by keeping costs low and using creative design.
The challenge:
💡 Design a car with a budget of just $20
🛠 Use only the available supplies
🔧 See if we could make the wheels turn!
Students put their creativity and problem-solving skills to work—just like Henry Ford did over 100 years ago. Such a fun way to connect history with engineering and innovation!

We are so thankful for wonderful groups in our community who do special things for our teachers. We want to thank Martin First Assembly Church for putting together and donating baskets of supplies to each of our teachers!! This is so needed and appreciated!!

The faculty and staff had a bit of fun with the start of college football!! We are excited and hope if your team plays this week or weekend, cheer loudly!!!

Our 5th graders had a blast practicing cause and effect with a game of “I Have, Who Has?” 🎉📚 After that, they took their learning to the hallway with task cards to keep practicing. Love seeing them engaged and having fun while learning!

Our 5th grade students welcomed Mrs. Terri Brundige for some hands on learning about corn. They have been diving deep into the topic through their current reading unit. Mrs. Terri helped bring their learning to life with real samples they could explore!

We want to thank the sweet people from First Baptist Church and their FBC Women’s Ministry for the encouraging hand written notes and gifts that were given to our teachers this week. This is so kind and very appreciated.

Our 5th grade teachers are keeping students on their toes!! We hope everyone has a great weekend!
